Import Duties and Tax

For all types of vehicles, there is a consistent Import duty rate of 35%, along with a Service charge of 6% and a VAT rate of 12.5%. However, the Excise tax rate differs based on the following categories:

Used Car Import Rules and Regulations

One vehicle per individual or family will be eligible for duty-free import, provided that:

  • The vehicle’s cost, insurance, and freight (CIF) value does not exceed US$15,000, and the returning national arrives with the vehicle, or
  • The vehicle arrives within 3 months before or after the returning national’s arrival, or
  • The returning national purchases the vehicle in Saint Lucia within 3 months of their return to the country.

Additionally, the returning national is prohibited from selling, exchanging, or otherwise disposing of the vehicle within 3 years from the date of importation.
